Keyboard Shortcuts

Updated: 10/03/24

To streamline your transcription workflow, Parrot's platform includes a variety of helpful keyboard shortcuts. These shortcuts allow you to navigate the editor, control playback, and adjust audio speed quickly and efficiently. Below is a list of essential keyboard shortcuts you can use while operating within the platform.

Editor Shortcuts

These shortcuts help you manage text edits within the transcript:

  • Undo: cmd + Z

Revert your last action, such as text deletions or modifications.

  • Redo: cmd + shift + Z

Redo an action that was undone, allowing you to restore previous edits.

Playback Control

Control the audio and video playback effortlessly with these shortcuts:

  • Play / Pause: tab

Start or stop the audio playback without needing to click on the controls.

  • 5 Seconds Backward: shift + tab

Rewind the audio by 5 seconds to revisit unclear sections.

Playback Speed Adjustment

You can also adjust the playback speed to suit your needs:

  • Adjust Speed:

You can modify the playback speed from 0.5x to 1.5x to match the pace you're comfortable with. Slower speeds can help clarify difficult-to-hear speech, while faster speeds are useful for reviewing your work once you have completed the transcript the first time.

Accessing the Shortcut Menu

If you ever forget a shortcut, don’t worry! You can easily access a list of all available keyboard shortcuts by clicking on the keyboard icon located at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. This will bring up a quick reference menu, making it easy to refresh your memory on the go.

Additional Tips:

  • Practice using these shortcuts regularly to improve your transcription speed and accuracy.
  • Adjusting playback speed according to the complexity of the audio can save time and help avoid missing important details.

These shortcuts will help you navigate and control the transcription process more effectively!
