Your Parrot Community

Updated: 10/03/24

At Parrot, we believe that community is the backbone of our success. As transcribers, reviewers, and contributors, you’re part of a dynamic team working toward a common goal: producing accurate, timely, and court-admissible transcripts. By working together and supporting one another, we ensure that our mission to modernize the transcription process is met with excellence.

Why Community Matters

  • Collaboration: No one transcribes in isolation. Whether you’re new to the platform or an experienced pro, there will always be opportunities to learn, share, and improve. Our community thrives on collaboration, where we exchange ideas and share best practices.
  • Support: Transcription work can be demanding, but you’re never alone in your journey. We’ve built a network of support through various channels to ensure you have access to help whenever needed, whether it's a technical issue or clarification on best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Parrot is always evolving, and your feedback is vital to that growth. Every suggestion, question, or issue you bring up helps us improve the platform, the guidelines, and the overall transcription process.

Where to Go for Help

Knowing where to direct your questions or concerns is essential. Here’s a breakdown of the available resources and when to use each:

1. The Chat Button (Tech Issues & Transcript Questions)

  • What it's for:
    • If you're having technical difficulties with the Parrot platform (e.g., issues with claiming tasks, submitting transcripts, or accessing features).
    • Questions related to the specific transcript you're working on, such as formatting uncertainties or how to handle unusual speech patterns.
  • Why it's important: The chat feature directly connects you to a team that specializes in tech troubleshooting and transcript-related questions, ensuring you get fast, effective support.

2. Slack (Operational & Transcription Questions)

  • What it's for:
    • Operational questions, such as task availability, deadlines, compensation, or project-related updates.
    • Questions related to transcription best practices, feedback on your work, or general advice on improving accuracy and efficiency.
  • Important Note on Security: For confidentiality and security reasons, do not include any case-specific information in Slack messages. Protecting the sensitive content of the transcripts you work on is critical. Please refrain from mentioning any case details, names, or recordings in your Slack communications.
  • Why it's important: Slack is our go-to platform for team communication and collaboration. It fosters open dialogue and helps transcribers stay connected with the larger Parrot community. Plus, it’s a great space to share feedback, ask for tips, and keep up with operational updates.

Keeping Our Community Secure

As part of the Parrot community, maintaining confidentiality is not only a responsibility but a legal obligation. Always keep in mind:

  • Do not share any case-specific information in public or team channels, whether in chat, Slack, or elsewhere.
  • Follow security guidelines at all times, ensuring no details from the transcripts are leaked or shared with unauthorized parties.

We’re Here to Help You Succeed

Being part of the Parrot community means you’re never alone. If you’re unsure about something or facing a challenge, don’t hesitate to reach out through the appropriate channels. We’ve built a strong support system to make sure every transcriber and reviewer feels confident and equipped to do their best work.

Thank you for being part of this amazing community—together, we’re shaping the future of legal transcription!
